The present work hasthe purpose of studying the semiotic functioning of a filmic text that not only tries to represent realitybut also to create the sensation of realism, addressing current issues and involving the viewer in theconstruction of the film’s meaning . A finales de la década del noventa el ámbito de la cinematografía local vio nacer en su seno un conjunto de filmes que, realizados por jóvenes cineastas, presentaron rasgos que los diferenciaban netamente del cine argentino precedente. El fenómeno se denominó Nuevo Cine Argentino y el film más señero fue –por diversos motivos– Pizza, birra, faso (Israel Adrián Caetano y Bruno Stagnaro, 1998).
