Ferrer is considered one of the main  references of the Latin American Structuralism -formed under the analisis promoted by Raúl Prebisch, and whose thought evolved throughout his extensive academic career and his limited political participation. This article takes a brief tour of Ferrer's biographical information, highlighting his most relevant works and his contributions to Latin American economic thinking. Emphasis focuses on the ideas that Ferrer proposed to promote Latin American and, especially, Argentine development. Furthermore, some of these ideas are contrasted with the policies implemented in Argentina, in the first two decades of the current century. In this way, the study seeks to encourage reflection on the validity of Ferrer's thought, in a situation in which the search for policies to promote development is a critical need in the Latin American region. In addition, it is considered that their contributions to the economic thought of this region can and should serve for the planning of development policies, in the countries of Latin America, in the twenty-first century. El presente trabajo propone una relectura de las principales ideas del economista argentino, Aldo Ferrer, con relación al desarrollo económico de América Latina. Ferrer es considerado uno de los principales referentes del estructuralismo latinoamericano -formado en la matriz de análisis promovida por Raúl Prebisch, y cuyo pensamiento fue evolucionando a lo largo de su extensa carrera académica y, su acotada participación política. Este trabajo efectúa un breve recorrido por la información biográfica de Ferrer, destacando sus obras más relevantes y sus aportes al pensamiento económico latinoamericano. Se enfatiza en las ideas que propuso Ferrer para promover el desarrollo latinoamericano y, especialmente, argentino. Por otra parte, se contrastan algunas de esas ideas con las políticas implementadas en Argentina, en las primeras dos décadas del siglo en curso. De ese modo, el estudio busca incentivar la reflexión sobre la vigencia del pensamiento de Ferrer, en una coyuntura en la cual la búsqueda de políticas para promover el desarrollo es una necesidad crítica en la región latinoamericana.
