description The objective of this work is to study the factors affecting the adoption of technologies for precision agriculture. Precision agriculture (PA) is based on a set of methods and processes that uses digital and electronic technologies that allow the design and implementation of tailored strategies for the various microenvironments that coexist in a field. These technologies allow producers to identify the environmental heterogeneity within an area, for then to apply a "productive recipe" adapted to those various microenvironments (e. g., thus varying the planting density, the application of fertilizers, the selective application of herbicides, etc.). Even though these new technologies have been on the market for some years, their diffusion process is far from massive, both locally and internationally. In this paper, we use data from the CREA -a private organization of agricultural producers- 2019 Census and use different econometric models to identify the main factors affecting the diffusion process of PA technologies. The results show that producers' structural characteristics (e. g., size of the agricultural area and land tenure regime) and human capital (e. g., owner's level of education) affect the adoption process. Additionally, we identified that the access to external sources of information (e. g., through the hiring of advisers), the relevance assigned to sustainable practices in production processes, and neighbouring producers' experiences (what we call 'network effects') are also relevant factors to explain the diffusion of PA technologies. Likewise, and contrary to what is assumed in some previous studies, business owners' age, Internet connectivity in rural areas, and owning agricultural machinery did not emerge as relevant variables to explain the adoption of PA. This study adds novel elements to the specialized literature on this topic at an international level and broadens the discussion at a national level, also contributing to the design of public policies aimed at facilitating the diffusion of PA technologies in Argentina.

This study adds novel elements to the specialized literature on this topic at an international level and broadens the discussion at a national level, also contributing to the design of public policies aimed at facilitating the diffusion of PA technologies in Argentina.
