His accuser connected the thought exposed in De Docta ignorantia with Eckhart. The answer was given in his Apologia doctae ignorantiae of 1449 after getting the capello of cardinal. With regard to this matter, Nicholas of Cusa was quite explicit about his arguments in this work  El trabajo presenta brevemente las consecuencias del proceso llevado a cabo contra Meister Eckhart, su condena póstuma en 1329 y la evaluación que un siglo más tarde realizara Nicolás de Cusa en el marco de su propia defensa ante una acusación recibida de parte de un profesor de Heidelberg. Su acusador vincula el pensamiento presentado en De docta ignorantia con el de Eckhart. El Cusano responde en su Apologia doctae ignorantiae de 1449 después de obtener el capello cardenalicio.
