The 1942-195 economic crisis imposed serious limits on the government in its policy of income redistribution and also in the use of credit policy and subsidies aimed to achive "social harmony" between capital and labor and "collaboration" with the state. The reorientation ofthe economic policy implied strong dilemmas regarding sugar sector: promote equalization of conditions favoring small producers versus promote greater productive efficiency, establish a costs criteria policy versus promoting performance. As long as the second criteria was implemented, strong conflicts took place, not only with the labor sector and sugarcane farmers, but also at the regional level, between the agribusiness of Tucumán and that of Jujuy and Salta. El presente trabajo estudia la política azucarera (1949-1955) y su relación con los actores económicos de Tucumán (ingenios, cañeros y trabajadores), a propósito de la política de concertación corporativa que el gobierno peronista apuntaba a desplegar en el plano nacional. La crisis económica de los años 1949-1952 impuso serios límites al gobierno en su política de redistribución del ingreso y en el uso de la política crediticia y de subsidios que permitían lograr la “armonía social” entre el capital y el trabajo y la “colaboración” con el Estado. La reorientación de la política económica supuso fuertes dilemas respecto del sector azucarero: promover la igualación de condiciones favoreciendo a los pequeños productores versus fomentarla mayor eficiencia productiva, establecer una política sobre criterios de costos versus promover el rendimiento.
