The graphical representation provides elements about the process of territorial organization and the relationship with political and social situations; moreover the power relations that materialized in specific historical circumstances are also studied. Thus, the social construction of space, supported on ideas about modern territorial order of a State under construction, is related to the particularities of the local context.  Se presenta el estudio de los cambios en la conformación del pueblo y ejido de Santa María Magdalena -provincia de Buenos Aires-, en el período comprendido entre las décadas 1820-1870, en base a los planos de mensuras y documentos relacionados. Se aportan elementos acerca del proceso de construcción y ordenamiento territorial del pueblo a partir de su representación gráfica y de los actores que participaron en su conformación; también se analizan las relaciones de poder que se materializaron en coyunturas históricas particulares.
