Sumario:Since the last century, introduction of audiovisual technology considerably affected one of the theatrical paradigms: the actors’ performance perceived in their true dimension. Based on my consideration of audiovisual media as a foreign body in theatre, I propose here a comparative approach to La Fura dels Baus and Krystian Lupa in the aspect of the intermediality. La Fura dels Baus pioneered with new technologies in theatre and opera. Then, with his approach to audiovisual techniques in acting, Lupa appears to be succumbing to historical necessity. These two concepts diverge, but they seem as justified consequences of the same starting point. The Catalan company reduced the role of actors and placed them in the audiovisual and intellectual landscape of the overall concept. Lupa used the technology to offer his actors some new degrees of freedom. This brings the theatrical expression closer to film acting and the protagonists closer to the public.
