The ignorance about them is yet more pronounced in the latin-american academic circles. This short article tries to collaborate to the diffusion of the state of the question of the Late Antique and Byzantine prosopography. The framing for that is a description of the different stages in the elaboration of a work of that characteristics. To deploy this proposal, we will advance with the mention of an example of application of the prosopographical method. The same was structured around the study of some of the military dignities of the byzantine administration during the Renovatio of the emperor Justinian, the magistri militum / strategoi. The discussion of the methodology used for the contemporary research in the field intent to collaborate to their diffusion both to advance with the debate of his empirical bases, in particular respect of the prospection of the sources and with the construction of the files of the studied characters. El avance en la investigación historia centrada en el uso de la prosopografía no se ha visto seguido por una gran difusión de sus progresos y desafíos. El desconocimiento de los mismos es aún más pronunciado en los ámbitos académicos latinoamericanos. Esta breve comunicación intenta colaborar a la difusión del estado de la cuestión de la prosopografía tardo antigua y medieval. El encuadre seleccionado para ello es una descripción respecto de las diferentes etapas, en la elaboración de un trabajo de tales características. Para avanzar con la propuesta se avanzará con la mención de un ejemplo de aplicación del método prosopográfico. El mismo se estructuró alrededor del estudio de algunas de las dignidades militares de la administración bizantina durante la Renovatio del emperador Justiniano, los magistri militum / strategoi.
