Describing moments in the backroom of the investigation, operational strategies proposed by various specialists are described, from which the reader can use themselves in their investigative process. Without blocking other theoretical-methodological alternatives that can better complement each process. It is aimed especially at studies within economics, sociology, political science, and other social sciences that recover legislative documents in their samplings, whether under quantitative or qualitative models. Tasks and conditions for the segmentation and categorization of the analysis units are described, as well as the operationalization of variables, and alternatives for data analysis are analyzed. Likewise, this work seeks to offer frameworks that base the value of legal norms in the explanation of economic, social and political processes and institutions, for which it delves into the contributions of historical new institutionalism. Este artículo recupera el análisis de contenido como método de investigación para las ciencias sociales. Pretende ser un nuevo impulso en los estudios que tengan como fuentes de datos normativas jurídicas (leyes, decretos, reglamentos, entre otras) en la indagación de períodos históricos o estructuras institucionales. Describiendo momentos de la trastienda de la investigación, se puntualizan estrategias operativas propuestas por diversos especialistas, a partir de las cuales el lector pueda servirse en su proceso investigativo. Sin por ello obturar otras alternativas teórico-metodológicas que puedan complementarse mejor a cada proceso. Se dirige especialmente a estudios dentro de la economía, la sociología, la ciencia política, y otras ciencias sociales, con estudios que recuperen documentos legislativos en sus muestreos, a través de modelos cuantitativos como cualitativos. Se describen tareas y condiciones de la segmentación y categorización de las unidades de análisis, así como de la operacionalización de variables, y se analizan alternativas para el análisis de los datos.
