They must meet strict interior background-noise requirements to ensure the validity of the evaluations performed. This work presents the methodology used to acoustically characterize —based on the interior noise levels— the audiometric booth of the Centro de Investigación y Transferencia en Acústica (CINTRA), UE CONICET–UTN. The study involved surveying sound pressure levels on different days and at various times, and comparing the measured values with the limits specified in the IRAM 4026:1986, ISO 8253-1:2010, and ANSI S3.1-1999 (R2008) standards. The results allow assessing the suitability of CINTRA’s booth for the reliable execution of audiological examinations. Las cabinas audiométricas constituyen un elemento fundamental en la realización de estudios destinados a evaluar la audición. Las mismas deben cumplir estrictas condiciones de ruido de fondo interior para garantizar la validez de las evaluaciones. Este trabajo presenta la metodología utilizada para caracterizar acústicamente —en términos de los niveles de ruido en su interior— la cabina audiométrica del Centro de Investigación y Transferencia en Acústica (CINTRA), UE CONICET–UTN. El estudio consistió en relevar los niveles de presión sonora en distintos días y horarios, y comparar los valores obtenidos con los límites especificados en las normas IRAM 4026:1986, ISO 8253-1:2010 y ANSI S3.1-1999 (R2008).
