The main hypothesis of this article is that neoliberal governments can nationalize companies as long as they are in crisis and are quickly returned to a deregulated market; the state manages the companies only to restructure them up and then reprivatize them, without showing any intention of retaining them for political uses (setting prices, benefiting internal market players, regulating sectors, etc.). Furthermore, this article argues that this type of nationalization takes place when the industrial bourgeoisie is unable to impose its own pattern of reproduction El presente artículo analiza la estatización de la empresa petroquímica indupa realizada por el gobierno de Carlos Menem en 1994, intentando responder al siguiente interrogante: ¿por qué un gobierno neoliberal, en pleno proceso de reformas estructurales privatizadoras, decide avanzar sobre el sector privado? La hipótesis principal de este artículo es que los gobiernos neoliberales pueden estatizar empresas, siempre y cuando las mismas se encuentren en crisis y sean rápidamente devueltas a un mercado desregulado; el Estado administra las empresas solo para sanearlas y luego reprivatizarlas, sin mostrar ninguna intención de retenerlas para utilizarlas políticamente (fijando precios, beneficiando a actores del mercado interno, regulando sectores, etc.).
