However, the owners of the firms benefited from these transactions, since previously the state took over their liabilities. Our approach is that these restructurings were part of a business strategy carried out by their owners that allowed them to make a profit by using their companies as assets for speculation.   El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar las reestructuraciones que tuvieron lugar en los ingenios azucareros de la provincia de Salta en la década de 1990. Durante esos años, estas compañías, a pesar de la ayuda estatal, declararon sus quiebras y posteriormente fueron puestas en venta. Sin embargo, los dueños de las firmas resultaron beneficiados de estas transacciones, ya que previamente el Estado se hizo cargo de sus pasivos.
