Sumario:The aim of this paper is to analyze the regulations of wood’s production and supply in the Castilian council of Piedrahíta in Late Middle Ages. This document is especially clear with respect to the articulation between petty peasant production and the council’s goal of guarantee the subsistence of the village’s settlers. Besides, and this is uncommon in this kind of documents, the ordinance includes a correction made some months later, which increases flexibility of the original norm. To understand the reason of this auto-limitation of the local political power is another aspect of the analysis, referred to the contradiction between feudal reproduction and the autonomous structure of peasant production.
