It comprises an FPGA device that enables the implementation of a multi-channel, easily scalable system, and a microcontroller that manages the user’s interface. This instrument was developed in response to a request from a detonating cords manufacturing company, addressing the absence of such  equipment in the national market. The VOD meter developed is capable of measuring velocities greater than 7500 m/s, covering most applications in the mining and oil industry. Este trabajo presenta los aspectos más importantes del desarrollo de un sistema diseñado para medir la velocidad de detonación (VOD) de cordones detonantes utilizados en la industria minera. El sistema utiliza el método de medida punto a punto, empleando fibras ópticas como elementos sensores. Está compuesto por un dispositivo FPGA que permite la implementación de un sistema multicanal y fácilmente escalable y un microcontrolador que gestiona la interfaz de usuario. Este instrumento se desarrolló en respuesta al requerimiento de una empresa fabricante de cordones detonantes, ante la ausencia de este tipo de equipos en el mercado nacional.
