In the absent space of the no return space, sons and daughters of exiled have been constructing new bonds with their home country, based on memories, on tangible and intangible heritage, and on the not legacies. So, from a sociological and autobiographical perspective, I describe the space from where this second generation revives the memory of exile and from where Uruguay inhabits today, from where it returns but not return.  Este artículo presenta algunas observaciones y reflexiones extraídas de mi investigación doctoral en donde abordo el no retorno de la segunda generación del exilio uruguayo en España. A partir de la entrevista como unidad de análisis, he ido confeccionando un hilo conductor entre los distintos discursos de esta segunda generación que devela biografías atravesadas por la experiencia del exilio y reinventadas a partir de nuevas circunstancias vitales y formas identitarias. En el espacio ausente del no retorno, los hijos de exiliados han ido construyendo nuevos vínculos con su país de origen, fundados en los recuerdos, en las herencias tangibles e intangibles, y en los no legados.
