The main focus of the development was to make the system suitable for reuse in other applications of a similar nature. For this purpose, we carried out the design and implementation of a system to explore the sample under estudy using only one commercial immersion transducer and the development of a reconstruction algorithm to generate the images from the measured acoustic signals. Moreover, we implemented a software to simulate the tomographic system. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of the real and simulated system, we used the Pearson correlation and the peak signal-to-noise ratio as figure of merits between the reconstructed and the reference images.
