Both of them were instructed at the same University and centred their studies on the above mentioned provinces. The aim of this paper is to critically analyse the archaeological development of the NEA, and to show the pre-Columbian cultural dynamic models of the region done by these authors starting from archaeological evidence; considering also the most recent researches developed by other researchers. Las provincias de Santa Fe y Corrientes se encuentran comprendidas en la región del nordeste argen­tino (NEA)1. En esta región, mucho más amplia que las provincias contempladas en este trabajo, en los últimos 25 años el conocimiento arqueológico se construyó sobre los modelos de dos autores claves, Jorge Rodríguez y Carlos Ceruti. Estos dos autores contemporáneos y formados en el mismo ámbito académico, centraron sus estudios en las provincias que nos ocupan. Es la intención de este trabajo exponer las ideas de cada uno de ellos referidas a la interpretación del registro arqueológico de grupos cazadores-recolectores en esta zona, como así también los modelos de ambos para explicar la dinámica cultural de ocupación de la región en épocas precolombinas.
