Because of the limited amount of time available at that moment, since a highly intensive research work was being carried out in the nearby site El Shincal de Quimivil (only a few kilometers away), this site could only be subject of a quick recognition, where a plan was made and some photographs were taken. As a result, the site has been scarcely mentioned so far in the bibliography referring to the incaico dominion of the South sector of the Hualfín valley, and the mountainous area of Zapata. Recent field trips allowed us to redefine and extend the available data, as well as to produce new information that will be presented in this work. Our objective is to incorporate the site to the repertoire of Inca facilities in the NOA, making in depth descriptions to schedule prospecting and excavation trips, aiming to understand its issues of an intrinsic as well as extrinsic nature. El sitio “Tambillo Nuevo”, también denominado “Tambillo de Zapata II”, se encuentra a la vera de la ruta provincial N° 3 en la sierra de Zapata. Fue descubierto en la década del 90 por un grupo de investigadores a cargo del Dr. Raffino. Teniendo en cuenta los tiempos acotados con los que se contaba en ese momento, debido a que se estaban desarrollando trabajos de investigación muy intensivos en el sitio El Shincal de Quimivil (ubicado a pocos km), solo fue objeto de un reconocimiento expeditivo, a partir del cual se confecciono un plano y se tomaron algunas fotografías. A raíz de esto, el sitio ha sido pocas veces mencionado en la bibliografía referente al dominio incaico del sector sur del valle de Hualfín y la serranía de Zapata. Recientes misiones al terreno han permitido precisar, ampliar como así también generar nuevos datos que serán presentados en este trabajo.
