The ceramic technology is considered as a social phenomenon, simultaneously material and symbolic. In this sense, the production and use of a technology is the expression of a social vision. From this point of view, the ceramics have meanings which are socially and historically contextualized. For the reconstruction of the operational chains we took into account the observation of processes and techniques: obtaining raw materials, preparing the ceramic paste, raising the vessel, decoration, treatment of the surface, cooking and post-cooking decoration. The analysis revealed us differences and similarities in the manufacturing technology providing data about the level of organization of ceramic production in the Aldea Piedra Negra. En el presente artículo se analizan los resultados de la comparación de las secuencias ó cadenas operativas involucradas en las manufactura de los materiales cerámicos provenientes de excavaciones arqueológicas de cuatro recintos habitacionales correspondientes a cuatro bases residenciales distintas de la Aldea Piedra Negra, cubriendo un rango temporal que va desde el siglo VI al X de nuestra era. Consideramos a la tecnología cerámica como un fenómeno social, simultáneamente material y simbólico. En este sentido la producción y el uso de una tecnología, es la expresión de una visión social. Desde este punto de vista las cerámicas son poseedoras de significados, los cuales se encuentran contextualizados social e históricamente. Para la reconstrucción de las cadenas tuvimos en consideración la observación de procesos y técnicas sobre: la obtención de las materias primas, preparado de la pasta, levantado de la pieza, la decoración, el tratamiento de la superficie, la cocción y decoración postcocción.
