A review of the editorials alongside government actions allows us to observe the extent to which these positions influenced the line followed by Chilean foreign policy. En este trabajo se analiza la línea editorial del diario chileno La Nación, nacido en plena guerra en Europa (1917), y su posicionamiento a raíz de la ruptura de relaciones entre Estados Unidos y Alemania en febrero de ese año, antesala de la entrada de los Estados Unidos en la Primera Guerra Mundial.
