Upon their study there have been generated narratives, concepts and theoretical models that resulted on the formalization of narratives for the understanding of pre-Hispanic past. This paper presents a historiographic analysis of the main archaeological narratives that have set out narratives about this process, drawing attention to three topics: the scale of the analysis, the social change concept, and the role of materiality. This explains the trajectories of the different contexts of knowledge production and critically revises the vision that considers the explanation of these phenomena under the categories of Early or Formative Period. Las sociedades aldeanas del primer milenio d.C. en el NOA, especialmente en el área Valliserrana, han sido un objeto de estudio sustancial para la arqueología argentina. En torno a su investigación se han generado narrativas, modelos y herramientas teóricas que cristalizaron en enfoques más amplios para la comprensión del pasado prehispánico. En este trabajo se presenta un análisis historiográfico de las distintas posturas teórico-metodológicas que han construido relatos acerca de este proceso, poniendo atención a tres aspectos: la escala de análisis, la visión del cambio y el papel de la materialidad.
