This site corresponds to a late agro-pottery context, with mainly Sunchitúyoj ceramic materials associated with a few Averías fragments. The skeletal parts representation is dominated by carapace bones which reveal a possible selection of these structures. A taphonomical analysis was performed on the sample, which showed thermal alteration on the dorsal side of carapace bones in several specimens and evidenced of cooking on embers or on direct fire. The fracture pattern of dermal plates was also analyzed. However this analysis is complicated because of the action of postdepositional processes. The evidence of tortoise use is complemented with the Tupinambis sp. at the archaeological site. In this regard, tortoises are considered an opportunistic resource and reptiles in general, an important resource in relation to prey’s seasonal use. Los análisis de los restos de reptiles de los sitios arqueológicos de la Argentina son escasos, y se han presentado las evidencias de su consumo principalmente para los lagartos Tupinambis sp. En este caso se analizan los restos de Chelonoidis chilensis (tortugas terrestres) recuperados del sitio arqueológico Beltrán Onofre Banegas-Lami Hernández (Santiago del Estero). Este sitio corresponde a un contexto agroalfarero Tardío, con materiales cerámicos principalmente Sunchitúyoj y asociación de escasos fragmentos Averías. En el caso de estudio la representación de partes esqueletarias de las tortugas está dominada por las placas dérmicas del espaldar, infiriendo una posible selección de dichas estructuras. Se realizó el análisis tafonómico de la muestra, observándose en varios especímenes termoalteración en la cara dorsal de las placas del espaldar, evidenciando la cocción al rescoldo o fuego directo. Por otra parte se analizó el patrón de fracturas de las placas dérmicas. Sin embargo, el análisis de las mismas se hace complejo por la acción de procesos postdepositacionales. Estas evidencias del uso de tortugas por los antiguos pobladores del sitio de estudio se complementa a las de Tupinambis sp. en el sitio.
