To do so, we mainly address the contradictions and paradoxes experienced daily in a town affected by the negative consequences of the agribusiness model, taking into account the symbolic weight of agricultural employment and the discourse of scientific knowledge as key variables in the visibility and invisibility of risks. En este artículo se intentaron recuperar los conceptos de “sufrimiento ambiental” (Auyero y Swistun, 2008) y de “riesgo ambiental” (Douglas, 1996; Beck, 1998) para analizar las percepciones sociales de los habitantes de 30 de Agosto, provincia de Buenos Aires, organizados en una protesta frente a una empresa multinacional de venta de agro-insumos emplazada en el centro del poblado. Para ello, se abordarán principalmente las contradicciones y las paradojas que se viven cotidianamente en un pueblo afectado por las consecuencias negativas del modelo agroindustrial, teniendo en cuenta el peso simbólico del empleo agropecuario y el discurso del conocimiento científico como variables fundamentales en la visibilización e invisibilización de los riesgos. Este artigo irá tentar recuperar os conceitos de “sofrimento ambiental” (Auyero e Swistun de 2008) e de “risco ambiental” (Douglas, 1996; Beck, 1998) para analisar as percepções sociais dos habitantes de 30 de Agosto, na província de Buenos Aires, que organizaram um protesto contra uma empresa multinacional localizado no centro da cidade que vende agro-insumos.
