Sumario:The export of computer services represents a niche of opportunity for Latin American countries to increase and diversify their exports, however the scarce telecommunication infrastructure can be a limitation for this purpose. The current paper analyzes the relationship between telecommunication infrastructure and it services exports. The Global Competitiveness Index and World Development Indicators were reviewed about telecommunications infrastructure so as to relate them to exports of it services. The largest economies in the region, such as Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, were also addressed, as well as Chile and Costa Rica, as they excel in the export of these services. The evidence shows that infrastructure in telecommunications is a necessary but not indispensable requirement to increase exports of it services.
