The Global Competitiveness Index and World Development Indicators were reviewed about telecommunications infrastructure so as to relate them to exports of it services. The largest economies in the region, such as Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, were also addressed, as well as Chile and Costa Rica, as they excel in the export of these services. The evidence shows that infrastructure in telecommunications is a necessary but not indispensable requirement to increase exports of it services. La exportación de servicios informáticos representa un nicho de oportunidad para los países latinoamericanos de aumentar y diversificar sus exportaciones, sin embargo la escasa infraestructura en telecomunicaciones puede ser una limitante para dicho propósito. El actual trabajo analiza la relación entre la infraestructura en telecomunicaciones y las exportaciones de servicios informáticos. Se revisaron indicadores de The Global Competitiviness Index y World Development Indicators de la infraestructura en telecomunicaciones para relacionarlos con las exportaciones. Se abordaron a las mayores economías de la región como Argentina, Brasil y México, además de Chile y Costa Rica ya que sobresalen en la exportación de esos servicios.
