La Primera Guerra Mundial planteó en Argentina una disyuntiva respecto a cómo encarar el futuro económico en lo sucesivo. A partir de este momento, en Jujuy, a diferencia de lo constatado a nivel nacional, se abrió un ciclo de promoción industrial encarado por las gobernaciones radicales del período 1918-1930.
