This challenge means assuming that libraries must be an inspiring environment for students, teachers and researchers to enhance their learning experiences. This paper presents the management model of the Library System of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina. It develops the changes introduced based on the results of the library’s evaluation and the methodologies applied to transform it into a user-centered management model. Sharing this experience aims to contribute to the reflection on librarians’ new roles and functions, the possible management models, and to raise awareness of the importance of the organisational cultural change that the library community must face. Este reto supone asumir que las bibliotecas deben ser un entorno inspirador para estudiantes, profesores e investigadores, con el fin de mejorar sus experiencias de aprendizaje. Se expone el modelo de gestión del Sistema de Bibliotecas de la Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina. Se describen los cambios introducidos sobre la base de los resultados de la evaluación de las bibliotecas, así como las metodologías aplicadas para transformar su modelo de gestión en uno centrado en el usuario. Al compartir esta experiencia se pretende contribuir a la reflexión sobre los nuevos roles y funciones del bibliotecario, los posibles modelos de gestión y a concientizar sobre la importancia del cambio cultural organizacional que debe afrontar la comunidad bibliotecaria.
