The Chubut Police Records Fund provides information on police identification practices in the transition from Territory to Province. In Chubut the opening of criminal records was inherent to all its inhabitants and was used as a tool of control, discipline, and surveillance. The records bring together various procedures, and the documents allow us to note that the identification process had particularities associated, for example, with the reason that opened the criminal record, physical and cultural characteristics, among others. It is argued that gender could have influenced the way of identification and characterization, especially of women. This process will be studied in more detail on a series of cases, with focus on the registration techniques and procedures. Analyzing aspects such as marital status, profession and/or political ideology will contribute to discuss the institutional perspective in the construction of stereotypes and role assignment according to gender. |

El Fondo de Prontuarios Policiales de Chubut permite conocer las prácticas de identificación policial en la transición de territorio a provincia. En Chubut, la apertura de prontuarios fue inherente a todos sus habitantes y se utilizó como herramienta de control, disciplinamiento y vigilancia. Los prontuarios reúnen trámites diversos y los documentos permiten notar que el proceso de identificación tuvo particularidades asociadas, por ejemplo, al motivo del prontuario, las características físicas, culturales, entre otras. Se sostiene que el género pudo incidir en la forma de identificación y caracterización, sobre todo de mujeres. Con base en una serie de casos, se propone enfatizar en dicho proceso, focalizando en las técnicas y procedimientos de registro. Profundizar en aspectos como el estado civil, la profesión y/o la ideología política permitirá poner en discusión la perspectiva institucional en la construcción de estereotipos y la asignación de roles de acuerdo con el género. O Acervo de Registros Policiais de Chubut permite conhecer as práticas de identificação policial durante o processo de mudança de Território para Província. Em Chubut, a abertura de cada registro individual foi obrigatória para todos os habitantes e servia como ferramenta de controle, disciplina e vigilância. Os registros reúnem diversos procedimentos e os documentos permitem constatar que a burocracia teve particularidades associadas, por exemplo, ao motivo do registro, as características físicas e culturais, entre outras. Argumenta-se que o gênero pode ter influenciado na forma de identificação e caracterização, especialmente das mulheres. Com base em uma série de casos, propõe-se aprofundar nesse processo, ressaltando as técnicas e procedimentos de registro.
