If one chooses to attribute some explanatory effectiveness, and not merely rhetorical, to the non-strictly geometric moments of the text, the adjusted reading must assume the task of reconciling the presence of images and statements that, at first glance, appear to be opposed, or, at least, non confluent. The hypothesis of this paper is that the challenges in reconciling the various elements offered by Hobbes are a deliberate hint that points to suggesting the incomprehensible complexity of the nature of statehood. En Leviatán, el trayecto que ofrece Hobbes para acercarse a la comprensión de lo político incluye un doble registro. Por un lado, hay desarrollos argumentales y definiciones estrictamente conceptuales. Por el otro, un conjunto de analogías, expresiones grandilocuentes y narrativas sumamente imaginativas. Si se opta por atribuir alguna efectividad explicativa, y no meramente retórica, a los momentos no estrictamente geometrizantes del texto, la lectura ajustada debe asumir la tarea de conciliar la presencia de imágenes y afirmaciones que, a primera vista, aparecen como enfrentadas, o, al menos, no confluyentes.
