In particular, we analyse the monistic conception of substance that we believe can be found in some of the metaphysical writings of the period 1675-1676, today known as De summa rerum. We propose that the relation between the one and the many, one of the most important problems in his system, will find in Spinoza's philosophy a formulation of great attraction for the young philosopher. We will also consider some of the different approaches to Spinoza's influence on Leibniz.
