Se presenta una Introducción, también el discurso inaugural a cargo de la Dra Ana María Lorandi y una breve síntesis sobre los temas tratados en los cuatro simposios desarrollados durante el Congreso, cuyos ejes temáticos fueron: Política, autoridad y poder (Simposio I);  Sociedad, población y economía (Simposio II); Tradiciones orales, narrativa y simbolismo (Simposio III) y Etnicidad, identidad y memoria (Simposio IV).  É apresentada uma Introdução, bem como a fala de abertura da Dra.
