It proposes the evaluation of the briefness of those strongholds from two different perspectives: the appropriateness of not to the model established by the missonaries, against the maintenance and persistence of the Toba identity, through their relationship with the Colonial society.  El presente artículo se ocupa de la corta duración de las misiones jesuíticas realizadas en el Chaco, específicamente aquellas emprendidas junto a los toba, grupo perteneciente al tronco linguístico guaycurú, durante los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII. Analiza la brevedad de estas reducciones no solamente a partir del punto de vista de la adecuación o no al modelo reduccional implantado junto al grupo, sino también a través del mantenimiento y persistencia de la identidad de cazadores-recolectores nómades de los toba, a lo largo de las interconexiones con la Sociedad  Colonial.    Este artigo trata da curta duração das missões jesuíticas realizadas no Chaco, especificamente aquelas empreendidas juntamente com os Toba, grupo pertencente ao ramo linguístico Guaycurú, durante os séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII.
