Cassin), who wants to investigate how the language of Martín Fierro works as a place of opacity and resistance to literary practices (at the same time that it is included in the institution). To do this, I study some cases of "translation" of the poem and the explanation of the problems involved. The second topic focuses on the idea of "archive" and "canon" and reflects on how Martín Fierro behaves in a literature like Argentina's, which is rewritten and early adopted as a classic. The hypothesis of the article maintains that Hernández's poem, in its numerous rewrites, not only behaved as a precursor but that the work generated a master story through a story of rebellion and negotiation. That story directs a good part of those later productions that rewrote the classic. Este artículo explora las funciones del poema de José Hernández dentro de la institución literaria, considerando las tensiones que el autor mismo experimenta con la obra al problematizar cuestiones centrales a la literatura: el realismo, la ficción, la representación. En ese marco, se enfoca principalmente en dos tópicos. El primero es la idea de “intraducible” (B. Cassin), que quiere indagar cómo la lengua del Martín Fierro funciona como un lugar de opacidad y resistencia a las prácticas literarias (a la vez que se incluye en la institución). Para ello, se estudian algunos casos de “traducción” del poema y la explicitación de los problemas que entraña. El segundo tópico se centra en la idea de archivo y canon, y estudia cómo el Martín Fierro se comporta en una literatura como la argentina, que se reescribe y que lo adopta tempranamente como clásico. La hipótesis del artículo sostiene que el poema de Hernández, en sus numerosas reescrituras, no se comportó solo como un precursor, sino que la obra generó un relato maestro a través de una historia de rebeldía y negociación.
