After reviewing the nine songs of the text, we make a cultural, historical, and literary consideration of the issue of the chanted voice, with examples from the romancero and the sentimental romance, Cárcel de Amor and its Continuation by Nicolás Núñez in particular. Finally, we consider the implication that the text is not only read but also chanted. El artículo propone un análisis de la relevancia de la voz cantada en la Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea, tanto en el nivel de lo narrado (función de las canciones para la caracterización de los personajes y de las situaciones) como en el nivel de la narración (modo de enunciación del texto, recurso para enfatizar la conmoción y la empatía).
