Much has been written about the rebellion of Túpac Amaru II since the very beginning of the actions in 1780, raising innumerable discussions about the meaning of the events. For a long time, the central problem revolved around the dilemma between interpreting the uprising as the culmination of the conflicts that shook the colonial order during the 18th century, or placing it at the beginning of the struggles for independence. Among modern authors it is possible to distinguish some differences in emphasis in the relative importance given to the different dimensions of the social -economic, political, ideological, etc.- for the explanation of the Andean rebellions of the 18th century. In this work I will try to analyze one of the debates that have been structured based on this type of interpretative differences, exploring the possibilities of constructing a comprehensive - that is, multidimensional - approach to the phenomenon studied. |

Mucho se ha escrito sobre la rebelión de Túpac Amaru II desde el comienzo mismo de las acciones en 1780' suscitándose innumerables discusiones acerca del sentido de los acontecimientos. Durante largo tiempo, el problema central giró en torno a la diyuntiva entre interpretar el levantamiento como la culminación de los conflictos que conmovieron el orden colonial durante el siglo XVIII, o bien ubicarlo al comienzo de las luchas por la independencia. Entre los utores modernos es posible distinguir algunas diferencias de énfasis en la importancia relativa concedida a las distintas dimensiones de lo social -económica, política, ideológica, etc.- para la explicación de las rebeliones andinas del siglo XVIII. En este trabajo intentaré analizar uno de los debates que se han estructurado a partir de este tipo de diferencias interpretativas, explorando las posibilidades de construcción de un enfoque integral -esto es, pluridimesional- del fenómeno en cuestión. Muito se escreveu sobre a rebelião de Túpac Amaru II desde o início das ações em 1780, dando origem a inúmeras discussões sobre o significado dos eventos. Durante muito tempo, o problema central girou em torno do dilema entre interpretar a revolta como o ápice dos conflitos que abalaram a ordem colonial durante o século XVIII, ou situá-la no início das lutas pela independência. Entre os autores modernos, é possível distinguir algumas diferenças de ênfase na importância relativa dada às diferentes dimensões do social –econômico, político, ideológico, etc.– na explicação das rebeliões andinas do século XVIII.
