Sumario:This article aims to carry out a conceptual review of school violence with the objective of systematizing and analyzing the multiplicity of definitions and theoretical currents that influence the objectification of the problem. For this purpose, a documentary work was chosen aimed at identifying the main theoretical approaches in the specialized bibliography. In this framework, thirteen studies available in three catalogs with wide circulation in the region were analyzed: SciELO, Redalyc and Google Scholar. As a result, a series of epistemological considerations are proposed for carrying out research focused on this topic. The ultimate goal of these contributions is to reinforce the scientific study of violence in school settings to develop educational proposals that offer answers to a confusing and controversial problem.
