Sumario:The social conflicts caused by the consolidation of Paraguayan Jesuit settlements (reducciones) during the XVII century allows us to focus on the history of Hispano-Guaraní relationships from an almost unexplored perspective. The current paper shows, from theoretical and methodoligical considerations, the analysis done by the researcher to understand the interethnic social conflict facing a powerful sector of Asunción society with the Jesuits and Guaraníes of the settlements (reducciones) for more than a decade.
