In the first part, the most significant lines of the process of social change are analyzed, during the first half of the XVIII century, in colonial Tucumán. The consequences of the Calchaquí wars, ending in the previous century; the appearence of new social actors in urban and rural areas, such as poor Spanish and a considerable increase of mestizo population; the indigenous disappearence from the community and their internal migrations are analyzed here. Besides, the new social scene is aggravated by the war against the Chaco Indians. In th second part, some progress in the study of two cases of resident lawsuits (juicios de residencia) are presented, which leads to a discussion of problems of corruption, factionalism, and public ethics related to the Church's control upon social morale. El trabajo refleja los procesos de construcción teórica y metodológica de dos temas centrales sobre los que está trabajando la autora. En la primera parte se analizan las líneas más significativas de los procesos de cambio social durante la primera mitad del siglo XVIII en el Tucumán colonial, considerando las consecuencias de las guerras calchaquíes que finalizaran en el siglo anterior, la aparición de nuevos actores en las áreas urbanas y rurales, tales como españoles pobres y un aumento considerable de población mestiza, la desaparición de los indígenas de la comunidad y sus migraciones internas. El nuevo panorama social se ve agravado por el frente de guerra contra los indígenas del Chaco. En la segunda parte del artículo se presentan los avances realizados en el estudio de dos casos de juicio de residencia, a partir de los que se discuten los problemas de corrupción, faccionalismo y de ética pública, ... Este trabalho reflete a construção teórica e metodológica de dois temas centrais nos quais o autor trabalha atualmente. A primeira parte analisa as linhas mais significativas de mudança social durante a primeira metade do século XVIII na Tucumán colonial, considerando as consequências das Guerras Calchaquíes, encerradas no século anterior, o surgimento de novos atores no meio urbano e rural, como os espanhóis pobres e o aumento considerável da população mestiça, o desaparecimento de indígenas da comunidade e suas migrações internas. O novo panorama social é agravado pela frente de guerra contra os indígenas do Chaco.
