This research challenged the applicability of closer referents of Andean ethnohistory, to specific problems appearing in the area. At the same time they fluctuated between theoretical frameworks and methodological tools borrowed from Anthropology and History. This reflection upon this production leads to criticism exploring the limits and benefits of interdisciplinary work and to the possibility of finding richer explanation and interpretation contexts in the face of the challenges presented by colonial societies. Este artículo examina un conjunto de investigaciones focalizadas en las sociedades hispano-indígenas del Noroeste argentino inicialmente encuadradas dentro de la etnohistoria. En su desarrollo estas investigaciones compulsaron la aplicabilidad de los referentes más inmediattos de la producción en etnohistoria andina a los problemas planteados, a la vez que fluctuaron en la utilización de marcos teóricos y herramientas metodológicas de la antropología y la historia. La reflexión sobre esta producción orienta la crítica hacia la exploración de los límites y beneficios del trabajo interdisciplinario y a las posibilidades de encontrar contextos explicativos e interpretativos más ricos frente a los exploring que nos proponen las sociedades coloniales. Este artigo examina um conjunto de investigações focadas nas sociedades hispano-indígenas do noroeste da Argentina, inicialmente enquadradas na etnohistória. Em seu desenvolvimento, essas investigações testaram a aplicabilidade dos referentes mais imediatos da produção etnohistória andina aos problemas propostos, enquanto oscilavam no uso de marcos teóricos e ferramentas metodológicas da antropologia e da história.
