| Sumario: | This paper focuses on Pier Candido Decembrio’ s (Pavia 1399-Milan 1477) Comparazione di Giulio Cesare e di Alessandro Magno in the Castilian translation by Alfonso de Liñán († 1468), kept in the Ms. 7565 at the BNE, ff. 9 r-16 v. First, I review Decembrio’ s well-known translation work and its relation to Spain. Then, I overview the content of manuscript 7565, totally dedicated to the figure of Alexander the Great. Following this, I detain to analyze Alfonso de Liñán’ s version of Comparación de Julio César y Alejandro Magno, and I contrast it with Martin de Ávila’s Castilian translation edited by Mazzocchi (2007). |
