Due to the complexity emphasized by the experts on the main concept involving the domain, theories of traditional classification are not sufficient for systemization. In this paper we discuss and propose a hybrid methodology using the Faceted Classification Theory of Ranganathan and the Theory of Integrative Levels of Classification Research Group, to assist in developing a classification structure. And Cognitivism, Domain Analysis of Hjørland and Polirepresentation of Ingwersen for understanding the domain and operation of mental processes and information needs of users. In order to meet and point the various facets and complexity involving the concept culture, we present the conceptual discussion in literature, as well as its main schools of thought. Este trabalho pretende discutir alguns aspectos teóricos para a organização e estruturação do domínio cultura. Devido a complexidade enfatizada pelos especialistas sobre o conceito principal que envolve o domínio, as teorias de classificação tradicionais não são suficientes para sua sistematização. Neste artigo discutimos e propomos uma metodologia híbrida utilizando a Teoria da Classificação Facetada, de Ranganathan e a Teoria dos Níveis Integrativos, do Classification Research Group, para auxiliar na elaboração de uma estrutura de classificação. E o Cognitivismo, a Análise de Domínio, de Hjorland e a Polirepresentação, de Ingwersen, para o entendimento do domínio e do funcionamento dos processos mentais e das necessidades informacionais dos usuários. No intuito de conhecer e evidenciar as várias facetas e complexidade que envolvem o conceito cultura apresentamos a discussão conceitual presente na literatura, assim como suas principais escolas de pensamento.
