In fact, translating theater means translating in different formats and for several receivers: the spectator of the play, the director of such staging, the actor on whose lips the text will reach the viewer, the reader of the same work published in a book, or the reader of the subtitling in case the work goes on tour in its original language.  To focus on these considerations, texts and stagings by Rodrigo García and Angelica Liddell will be taken as examples Hablar de traducción teatral presupone que la traducción de textos dramáticos conlleva ciertos criterios que la distinguen de la traducción de otras formas ficticias o literarias, si la llamada literatura dramática encaja dentro de la categoría literatura. De hecho, traducir teatro significa traducir en diferentes formatos y para varios receptores: el espectador de la obra teatral, el director de dicha puesta en escena, el actor en boca de quien el texto llegará al espectador, el lector de la misma obra publicada en un libro, o el lector del sobretitulado en caso de que el trabajo va de gira en su idioma original.
