| Sumario: | The article analyzes one of the so-called Fragmenta Tusculana (Crypt. gr. 54), commonly interpreted as the most ancient source (of VI-VII century) of Malalas’ Chronography. In particular, the focus is on the third fragment, dedicated to the episode of the empress Eudocia, Paulinus and the apple. The research intends to highlight the narrative peculiarities of this testimony, which presents some significant divergences with respect to the main Malalas’ witness (Baroccianus gr. 182) and reveals an apparently autonomous way to use, rework and combine various chronicle materials. |
