In this sense, access becomes a process of mediation, which implies a complex negotiation between the expectations of users and the specialized knowledge that archival science can provide. Given that users have very diverse profiles in terms of experience, education, and information needs, archival mediation can only be carried out if the profile of the institutions that safeguard the documentary heritage, the nature of their holdings, and above all, the specificity of archival documents are understood. Las reflexiones presentadas se enmarcan dentro de los desafíos relacionados con el acceso a los archivos, partiendo de la premisa de que el acceso no solo implica hacer los archivos disponibles y consultables a través de recursos tecnológicos, sino también comprender su origen y contexto de producción. En este sentido, el acceso se convierte en un proceso de mediación, que implica una compleja negociación entre las expectativas de los usuarios y el conocimiento especializado que la archivística puede aportar.
