Sumario:The present work analyses the argentine international insertion profile, between 2004 and 2016, disaggregating the different branches of the manufacturing industry. For that purpose, we divide the period in three stages. The first one covers the period 2004-2008, when the country presented a strong growth, with the external sector as one of its engines. During the period 2008-2015, which is signed by the international crises started in 2009, the limits to the growth of the industrial sector and the gradual deterioration of the commercial balance started to become remarkable. Finally, in the period 2015-2016, due to the change in the government at the end of 2015, marked modifications in the international insertion profile were generated. What can be appreciated, along the whole period under study, is that the existence of an unbalanced productive structure not only has not been moderated during the period under study, but perhaps it is being aggravated by the policies carried out and/or not carried out during the last years. This shows once again one of the historical problems of the Argentine economy: the external restriction.
