It will show how the inhabitants of this peninsula were favored by the geography of a territory whose accidents along the coastline -natural harbors- allow them to link the business dynamics of the region through smuggling activities with aliens. El presente estudio se centra en la manera como el control territorial y la disputa por el poder sobre la circulación mercantil dinamizaron las relaciones sociales de los individuos que habitaron el Caribe colombiano en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, más específicamente en la península de la Guajira. Se mostrará como los pobladores de esta península se favorecieron de la geografía de un territorio cuyos accidentes a lo largo de su litoral -puertos naturales- les permitieron vincularse a las dinámicas comerciales de la región mediante la ejecución del contrabando con los extranjeros del Caribe insular. Este estudo se concentra em como o controle territorial e a disputa pelo poder sobre a circulação comercial dinamizaram as relações sociais dos indivíduos que viviam no Caribe colombiano na segunda metade do século XVIII, especificamente na Península de Guajira.
