For this, the methodological procedures are based on a research with a descriptive qualitative approach carried out from interviews applied to the public authorities and concessionaire companies in the municipality. As a data analysis procedure, the sensemaking technique was used: narrative and visual mapping. It can be concluded that smart public transport systems have advanced in the city and generated many benefits for both the population and the public administration and service providers. The benefits generated were increased safety in public transport, improved quality of buses and service provision, greater control of the fleet, which is done online, and cost reduction. Some investments need to be made to further improve service provision, such as improving the Internet network, as some lines use 2G, which impairs communication between GPS and applications; implement different forms of payment, aiming to make the user's life easier; and expand bus lanes and connecting stations. A presente pesquisa objetiva analisar o uso dos sistemas inteligentes no transporte público urbano, modo ônibus, no município de São José dos Campos (SP), na percepção dos gestores públicos e privados. Para isso, os procedimentos metodológicos estão alicerçados a uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa descritiva realizada a partir de entrevistas aplicadas ao poder público e às empresas concessionárias do município. Como procedimento de análise de dados, utilizou-se a técnica de sensemaking: narrativa e visual mapping. Pode-se concluir que os sistemas inteligentes de transporte público têm avançado no município e gerado muitos benefícios tanto para a população como para a gestão pública e empresas prestadoras de serviço. Os benefícios gerados foram: aumento de segurança no transporte público, melhoria na qualidade dos ônibus e da prestação de serviço, maior controle da frota, que é feito on-line, e redução de custos.
