The study of the social dynamics of the frontier and its actors tended to be relegated by a historiography that considered thedisappearance of that world as an unavoidable process. Even though, in the last twenty years, historic anthropological research has studied frontier society, building a complex vision of political, social and economic relations of the various actors involved, there are little known aspects of the state advance that involved rural populations of the campaign countryside. In this work, we will make a first approach to the National Guards system, a provision of military services system that subordinated some sectors of th e civil population to military defense activities in the frontier line as well as in other inner and international fronts .... Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, el problema de las “fronteras interiores” fue uno de los frentes de conflicto para las pretensiones de expansión del estado nación argentino en consolidación. El estudio de la dinámica social de la frontera y sus actores tendió a ser relegado por una historiografía que consideró la desaparición de ese mundo como un proceso ineludible. Si bien en los últimos veinte años, las investigaciones histórico-antropológicas han estudiado la sociedad de frontera construyendo una visión compleja de las relaciones políticas, sociales y económicas de los diversos actores, hay aún aspectos poco conocidos del avance estatal que involucraron a las poblaciones rurales de la campaña. En este trabajo, realizaremos un primer acercamiento al régimen de Guardias Nacionales, un sistema de prestaciones militares que subordinó a sectores de la población civil a actividades de defensa militar, tanto en la línea de frontera como en otros frentes internos e internacionales...... Durante a segunda metade do século XIX, a questão das "fronteiras internas" foi uma das frentes de conflito nas ambições expansionistas do Estado-nação argentino em consolidação. O estudo da dinâmica social da fronteira e de seus atores tendeu a ser relegado por uma historiografia que considerava o desaparecimento daquele mundo um processo inevitável. Embora a pesquisa histórico-antropológica dos últimos vinte anos tenha estudado a sociedade fronteiriça, construindo uma visão complexa das relações políticas, sociais e econômicas dos diversos atores, ainda existem aspectos pouco conhecidos do avanço estatal que envolveu as populações rurais do campo.
