To achieve this goal, the individual trajectory of Dr. Myriam Tarragó, one the most outstanding professionals in Southern Andes, was analyzed to articulate her relentless and multifaceted career and academic performance with specific contexts of scientific production from the late 1950s up to the present. Key agent and witness of the current state of the discipline, her legacy is explored through her recollections, her most relevant production, and the research of her personal documents to contextualize her uninterrupted academic experience, although discontinued in Argentina due to several political processes that took place in the country until the return of democracy in 1983. As a pioneer in various spheres of the academic field, university teaching, and management, her itinerary allows us to evaluate her experience breaking the “glass ceiling” and clearing the path for a new generation of professional women archaeologists in turbulent times of the recent history of Argentina.
