El propósito de este trabajo es demostrar la presencia de los churumatas en la región de la frontera oriental incaica, circunscripta a los valles mesotérmicos a través del eje Tomina-Chuquisaca-Tarija durante los siglos XVI y XVII temprano, aportando información, en base a fuentes del archivo, relativa a su organización socio-económica -aunque la misma no nos permita sacar aun conclusiones acerca del territorio nuclear o la pertenencia étnica del mencionado grupo-.
